Heart of Borneo Part 2

Pilot projects; Hulu and Hulu Pujungan Bahau, Kab. Malinau, East Kalimantan
The main attractions: adventure jungle and mountain trekking, river adventures; Dayak culture (dance, sculpture, crafts); heritage archaeological (rock and cave burial) tropical forest research station; observation of wildlife (deer, wild cattle, pigs forest); suitable for trekking for 5-7 days / night to another area.

Accommodation: Home stay in all villages and lodge rooms (simple) in sub-centers (and Pujungan Long Alango)
Local Manager: ecotourism committee at village level
Access: with a long boat / river boat from Tanjung Selor or rent a small plane with a route Tarakan / Malinau-time concern about the flexibility in scheduling

Pilot projects: Krayan and South Krayan, Kab. Nunukan, East Kalimantan
Main Attractions: jungle trekking and trips in the rice fields, the beauty of landscapes, cultural (traditional dance, music, crafts); local cuisine (menu of dishes from natural plants and organic); archaeological relics (stone and cave
cemetery; chisel stone suitable for trekking and cross-border eco-tourism in the highlands of Sarawak.
Accommodation: Home stay in all villages and lodge rooms (simple) in the district centers (Long Bawan)
Local Manager: FORMADAT in Tana Tam Krayan and NGOs in South Krayan, plus eco-tourism committee at the village level.
Access: via air transport from Indonesia (regular flights and rental of Nunukan / Tarakan / Malinau) and through logging road along the border of Sarawak in Indonesia-Malaysia.

Partnerships: Borneo Jungle Safari (BJS), Tour Operator in Sarawak.

Main Attractions: jungle trekking and adventure, cultural (traditional dance, music, crafts); longhouse; trekking deep into Hulu Mahakam (East Kalimantan); suitable for cross-border eco-tourism along the Park Lanjak Entimau (Sarawak).
Accommodation: Home stay in all villages and longhouses
Local Manager: KOMPAKH in Putussibau and tourism committee at the village level
Access: transportation by land or air transportation from Pontianak, using a boat from Putussibau to the region national parks
Promotional materials: web-site (KOMPAKH); leaflets and travel guidebooks.
Partnerships: collaboration with the German travel operator and Indonesia
